Creeping eruption is one form of hookworm which is transmitted from your dot of other pets at home. It is called as cutaneous larva migrans and the hookworm usually lives on dogs and cats. When you walk barefoot and touch the saliva of the pets which contain the eggs of the parasite then it gets into your skin. The possible sites of getting infection are legs, buttocks, and feet. The hookworm causes reddish rash on the skin on the affected area causing severe irritation.
Causes :
The eggs of the hookworm enter your body in case you come into contact with them. It may be present in the soil of your garden or living room or even on sofas. The larva enters the skin through burrowing method and will cause serious inflammation and rashes. Creeping eruption is widely seen in countries with hot climate. The main cause of this disease is getting in touch with the feces of dog or other pets. Unknowingly you may sit on the particle of feces giving room for the development of hookworm into your skin. Most commonly it affects the children in more number than adults.
Symptoms :
The infected person will develop blisters or lesions on the skin. Severe irritation and itch are the most common symptoms of creeping eruption. The hookworm will cause snake like tracks randomly spreading on the surface of the skin which increases over time. Thread like tracks are seen deposited on the skin causing intense irritation. It becomes reddish and resemble common rash.
Treatment :
Thiabendazole is the best medicine for treating creeping eruption. It is available in the name of Mintezol in the drug stores. Apply liberally the above medicine on the infected area to control the growth of hookworm. Normally the symptoms of creeping eruption will get reduced after a week or 10 days. But taking effective medicine will help you to control the disease quickly.
